Thoughts on Gratitude

In this devastatingly divisive world we live in with its many inequities, it is easy to fall prey to the mind states of negativity, cynicism, judgement and fear.  Life is hard, occasionally unfair, people suffer and things often don't go the way we plan. Steeped within this often harsh reality, we are offered a powerful and transformational alternative - living in Gratitude. Each day presents itself with a new opportunity to choose how we are going to live with ourselves and within the world.

Today, I choose gratitude because it is a sweeter way to live my days.  Because when I choose to see life as abundantly rich, doors open and possibilities flourish. And even when I'm struggling, the cultivation of gratitude allows me to recognize that the challenges I encounter are my greatest teachers; My commitment to growing allows me to weather the storms and ultimately to appreciate how it all positively informs my life, if I choose to see the silver lining. Today, I choose gratitude because it feels good and right and I like myself more;  When I choose to live in this state, my ability to give of myself and show up for others increases - my relationships organically strengthen.

These are my choices. What are yours?

My practice of yoga is the lifeline to my practice of gratitude. . . these days it is not something I pay lip-service to but something I try to deeply embody. Some days I do better than others but I keep practicing. . .

Life is hard, but life is good. I am eternally grateful for it all.
